Wireless Audio Latency (and Why Your Device Should Have Bluetooth)

by | May 23, 2025 | Articles

Okay, hear me out.

I know Bluetooth latency sucks and won’t work for recording in live performances of note input.

But after years of being a user of grooveboxes and an early adopter of Bluetooth audio technology, my argument is this: the more “modern” gear gets, the less I’m playing stuff in ‘live’ and the more I’m programming the music. For my personal use-case, the times I need (or prefer) to record notes in ‘live’ is quite rare. The vast majority of my time producing music is, basically, asynchronous.

Bluetooth headphones & earbuds are so prevalent now that I think the time has come. My suggestions is that you can add a LOT of practical, quality-of-life value without a huge increase in cost. It’s a win/win.
